Hedge & Thistle Horticultural Services is a Geelong-based horticultural and garden design business led by qualified horticulturist Christopher, bringing more than 30 years of experience to gardens across the region.
With a Bachelor of Horticultural Science and decades of hands-on industry experience, Christopher combines professional horticultural knowledge with a highly personal approach. Every garden is considered individually, taking into account the architecture of the home, the surrounding environment, soil conditions, existing vegetation and, importantly, the way the people who live there want to use and enjoy their outdoor space.
At Hedge & Thistle, plants are at the heart of every garden.
Rather than simply filling a space, careful thought is given to how plants will establish, interact and develop over time. Plant selection considers form, colour, texture, seasonal interest, growing conditions and long-term performance to create gardens that feel cohesive and become better as they mature.
Where required, plants can be personally sourced from a range of trusted suppliers, hand selected and delivered, providing greater confidence in the quality and suitability of every specimen.
A personal approach to garden design
Hedge & Thistle offers a bespoke design service rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Garden designs are generally hand drawn, allowing the process to remain personal, considered and responsive to each individual property.
From a complete garden concept to planting design, irrigation, lawn establishment, vertical gardens or advice for an existing landscape, the level of involvement can be tailored to suit.
For Christopher, creating a successful garden is not simply about how it looks when the work is finished. It is about understanding how that garden will grow and change in the years ahead.

That is why Hedge & Thistle offers ongoing horticultural guidance, garden care and development beyond the initial design and installation. This long-term approach allows the garden to be nurtured as it matures, with informed decisions made along the way.
From understanding what to plant and where, to improving soil health, managing irrigation or refining an established garden, clients have access to experienced horticultural advice when they need it.
